
Recently, the People’s Government of Jiangsu Province issued the 2024 Science and Technology Award Decision. The project R&D and Application of Key Technologies for High-performance Collector Cable Series for Offshore Wind Power, led by Far East Submarine Cable Co., Ltd. in joint collaboration with Far East Cable Co., Ltd., Xi’an Jiaotong University, New Far East Cable Co., Ltd. and Jiangsu East China Intelligent Cable Testing Co., Ltd., was awarded the Third Prize of Jiangsu Provincial Science and Technology Progress Award.
Centering on torsion-resistant collector cables inside wind turbine towers and submarine collector cables connecting wind turbines and offshore booster stations, the project team carried out systematic innovative research and achievement transformation, successfully developing internationally advanced torsion-resistant wind power cables and submarine collector cable products. Precisely matching the core demands of offshore wind power collection systems for high reliability, large capacity, environmental resistance and easy maintenance, the team built a full-chain R&D system covering materials, structure, technology and monitoring through years of persistent research, and achieved breakthroughs in multiple core technologies. Relevant products have been widely deployed in domestic and overseas offshore wind farms, effectively guaranteeing safe and stable operation of power transmission systems and providing strong support for building a clean, low-carbon, safe and efficient modern energy system.
The Jiangsu Provincial Science and Technology Award ranks among the highest honors in the province’s scientific and technological field. This award not only demonstrates Far East’s leading edge in technological innovation and R&D strength, but also marks the company’s establishment of core competitive advantages with independent intellectual property rights in key offshore wind power equipment, making positive contributions to industrial technological progress and energy structure transformation.
